While both fixed line and fixed wireless broadband services are similar, fixed line broadband is delivered through a fibre optic cable, while fixed wireless broadband is delivered through the air by radio communications via antennas which transmit a signal directly to a small outdoor antenna installed on the premises. The antenna is connected to the Network Termination Device (NTD) by a cable which runs through the wall.
The NTD is hardwired to the small outdoor antenna which is pointed in the direction of a fixed wireless tower.
Speeds for a mobile wireless service can slow down if more people move into the area, while a fixed wireless network it remains relatively steady. Using advanced LTE or 4G technology, the service is delivered to a fixed number of premises within each coverage area. The bandwidth for each household is designed to be more consistent than mobile wireless, even during peak hours of use.

Typically your address can be upgraded to nbn™ broadband with little to no downtime. In the meantime, you should check to make sure that current modem will be compatible with your new nbn™ broadband service.
Upgrading is simple, just call our Team on 132 800 to get started.
Remember, moving to nbn™ broadband will not necessarily cancel your existing broadband and phone services. Once you’ve upgraded, please call your existing provider’s Billing/Accounts Department to ensure your old services are cancelled, otherwise you may continue to be billed for them.
